Groundwork set for second phase polling at Tamenglong, Pherzawl

Tamenglong/Pherzawl, April 23 2024:
Polling officials for the 18th Lok Sabha election in respect of Tamenglong and Pherzawl have been dispersed today.
For Tamenglong, the polling officials including for eight vulnerable polling stations viz Makiunong, Lemta, New Lemta, Nal-long, Kiulong III, Katiang, Katangam and Pumram for 52 Tamei AC were flagged off by Tamenglong ADM Chunglenmang Haokip from the district Mini Secretariat.
Altogether 157 polling stations in the two Assembly segments of Tameng- long viz 52 Tamei/Tousem AC and 53 Tamenglong AC will be manned by 628 polling officials.
There are no Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in respect of Tamenglong.
Ahead of the dispersal of the polling officials, the strong room located at DC Office complex was opened at 8 am for dispersal of EVMs and VVPATs in the presence of AROs, nodal officers and representatives of various political parties.
District Election Office, Pherzawl also dispatched the first batch of polling teams of the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha election from the Peace Ground at Tuibong today.
Polling teams deputed for 16 remote polling stations under 55-Tipaimukh Assembly Constituency including Chingmun, Doltang and Suangphumun amongst others were airlifted along with EVMs in an IAF chopper from the helipad of 36 Assam Rifles.
All these polling stations are located more than 260 kms away from the Tuibong Peace Ground and share poor road connectivity.
In addition, polling teams for Upper Kharkhuplien, Lungthulien, Kangreng and 12 other distant polling stations also proceeded towards their respective destinations by road today.
Earlier, the strong room at the DC office complex was opened and the EVMs were shifted to the dispersal centre for distribution to the polling teams.
Polling teams for 56-Thanlon and remaining teams for 55-Tipaimukh will be dispatched by road tomorrow.
