Imphal, January 19, 2012:
The JAC which was formed in connection to the killing of Md Ishaque Ali and Md Mustakim has claimed that both the persons were innocent and they were apprehended by the police at Kakwa and were later shot dead at Uran Chiru yesterday.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Md Abdul Quagum, Convenor, JAC, said that Md Ishaque Ali was a driver of a passenger van.
Yesterday at around 10 am, he along with his nephew Md Mustakim were kidnapped by unidentified persons at Kakwa along with the van (MN-01X-1004) when they were on their way to fill fuel for a trip to Moreh.
They were also carrying a sum of Rs 50,000 with them.
None of them had any relation with any underground groups whatsoever.
Heaping charges on innocent person after killing them is not a new thing for security personnel.
The act is really unfortunate, he said.
He further demanded Judicial inquiry into the matter and to bring out the truth to the general public.
A memorandum has also been submitted to the Chief Minister in this regard.
In the meantime, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Manipur State has demanded institution of an inquiry into the killing of Md Ishaque Ali (25) s/o MV Abdur Rajaque and Mustakim (26) s/o Md Abul of Lilong Mairenkhul.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, SDPI refuted the police claim that both of them were killed in an encounter along the inter-village road leading to Uran Chiru, MAASI complex under Irilbung Police Station yesterday and contended that both of them were innocent people.
The memorandum has also demanded payment of Rs 10 lakh each as compensation to the bereaved families and repeal Armed Forces Special Powers Act which give sweeping power to the security personnel.
