Imphal, June 17 2021:
In another scathing attack on BJP, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has asserted that whatever loopholes or lapses Congress pointed out in the Government policies are in the interest of the people.
In a virtual press briefing, MPCC media panellist, M Sureshkumar said that whatever criticism the saffron party and its leaders receive from the people and the Congress is all due to their doings.
He also said that charging nearly Rs 100 for a litre of petrol is akin to robbing the people in broad daylight.
Saying that the BJP, State unit vice president should know how to address a political leader, Sureshkumar asserted that BJP attempting to depict the MPCC president, who pointed out the flaws of the Government policies in the interest of people as an Opposition leader, in a bad light is upsetting.
Saying that apology has to come from one who wronged others, he added that demanding an apology for pointing out the flaws of the Government is absurd.
Further stating that the BJP vice president claiming that controlling fuel prices is not in the hands of the Government is ridiculous, Sureshkumar asked whether private companies are operating under the guidelines of the Government or not.
He also asked if BJP hasn't privatised any entities.
Saying that working for the well being of the people is the primary duty of any Government, the Congress leader asked what the BJP led Government has done for all those who lost jobs due to the Covid pandemic.
It is truly disappointing that the BJP vice president is not aware that whatever lapses highlighted by MPCC were in the larger interest of people and as a responsible Opposition leader, he added.
Continuing that recent remark of N Biren Singh pertaining to free ration, free vaccine etc is unbecoming of a Chief Minister, he asked if the Government knew in advance of the Covid pandemic if fuel prices are hiked to distribute essentials to people free of cost.
He also reminded that the Chief Minister went viral on social media for notoriously saying he didn't know one MLA.
He also asked where has the money of CM Covid Relief Fund gone.
Saying that rice should be distributed to people under Right to Food, M Sureshkumar questioned if fuel prices were high when Congress launched the National Food Security Act (NFSA) or whether the party ever said such things as 'things don't fall from the sky' during their tenure.
He further stated that rice distributed to people is not from the Chief Minister's pocket.
The vice president of BJP, State unit making comments without understanding the contents of Disaster Management Act to mislead the people is condemnable, he said and reminded that the Central Government had declared COVID-19 as "Notified Disaster" .
