Cong team meets CPI's D Raja

Imphal, November 15 2019: A team of State Congress legislators led by ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi met CPI General Secretary and MP D Raja at Delhi this afternoon.

During the meeting, the Congress team appealed to the CPI leader to help protect the territorial integrity of Manipur by raising the issue in Parliament and also to see that the Citizenship Amendment Bill is never re-introduced in the Parliament.

Notably, the CLP team went to Delhi to lobby with Central leaders including the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister so that any solution to the Naga issue does not impinge on the collective interests of Manipur.

Even though the CLP team had submitted written applications twice seeking appointments with the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, there has been no response so far.

Nonetheless, it is reported that the team would hold a meeting with AICC president Sonia Gandhi tomorrow.

MPP against impact to Manipur integrity: MPP staged an alert sit in protest at the party office today, against any form of impact to the integrity and interests of Manipur as a result of the Naga peace talks.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest, MPP president Oinam Jugindro said that the people should remain extremely alert as the final pact of the peace talks might be signed any moment.

He reasoned that the people are not fully satisfied by the so called assurances given to the State Government by Union Home Minister Amit Shah that the interests of the State will not be affected and instead, urged the State Government to pressure the Centre to disclose the contents or details of the peace talks at the earliest.

Whatever concerning Nagaland should be confined to Nagaland.

Those issues should not be brought into Manipur, he cautioned, demanding the Centre to act properly by understanding the sentiments of the people of Manipur.
