Doctors in Imphal join Nationwide protest, demand justice for Kolkata doctor

Doctors in Imphal today joined the Nationwide protest called by the IMA Junior Doctors Network & IMA Medical Students Network in solidarity with young doctors undergoing "a fast unto death hunger strike" at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata.
The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of the Regional Institute Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal held a sit-in protest in front of the hospital's OPD Block as part of the Nationwide hunger strike.
The doctors at RIMS demanded justice for the trainee doctor raped and killed at RG Kar Hospital, Kolkata on August 9 .
During the protest demonstration, Dr RK Lenin Singh, Professor of the Psychiatry Department, RIMS, Imphal, said, "Junior doctors are the backbone of every hospital..
Without their dedication, it would be impossible to run the hospital smoothly" .
Harassment and violence against doctors, including the horrifying killing of one of our own, is completely unacceptable.
Delaying justice is not only inhumane but sets a dangerous precedent.
"The IMA Manipur State branch fully supports this cause, and we urge everyone to stand in solidarity with doctors," Dr RK Lenin said.
The Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, doctors, medical students and faculty members took part in the protest demonstration.
Meanwhile, the doctors at Shija Academy of Health Sciences, Langol also staged a sit-in protest as a part of the Nationwide protest The doctors demanded justice for the doctor killed in August in Kolkata.
