Positivity rate tops 10 pc after five days, 15 die
530 new cases reported in 24 hours; healthy recovery rate continues for second day

Imphal, June 13 2021: Test positivity rate went past the 10 percent mark after five days of reporting single digit infection percentage as the state logged 530 new cases out of 5059 samples tested in the last 24 hours, presenting a positivity rate of 10.48 per cent on Sunday.

Fatality count also remains high as Sunday reported 15 deaths.

Since May 5, the state has been reporting double digit daily death cases except for one day in May and three days in June.

Meanwhile, new recoveries outnumbered fresh cases detected for the second consecutive day as Sunday reported 726 recoveries.

Active caseload has declined to 8499 out of which 3156 are in home isolation and the remaining 5343 are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.

Official report states that 374 patients including some post Covid patients are on oxygen support and 43 are on ventilator support.

The figure, however, does not include status of patients in JNIMS and I-land Hospital, Canchipur.

So far, the state has reported 31,664 positive cases and 619 death cases since the beginning of the current year.

The last seven days saw addition of 4622 new cases and 93 fatalities while 9101 new cases and 167 fatalities have been reported during the current month.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee has reported 15 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (7), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (1) and Jiribam (1).Seven of them died at JNIMS, four at Shija Hospitals, two at RIMS, and one each at Raj Medicity and DH Jiribam.

The cumulative number of deaths is 974.Seven out of the 15 victims were under 60 years of age including two males in their mid-30s.Six victims did not have any co-morbid conditions including the two youngest ones.

One patient died within an hour of arrival at hospital, another within five hours, one within eight hours, four within 24 hours and two within 48 hours of hospitalisation.

According to official reports, the 530 new cases included 528 people (260 male & 268 female) from among the general population and two personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (8), JNIMS (6), District Hospitals (352) and other testing centres (164).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (79), Imphal West (170), Thoubal (56), Bishnupur (60), Kakching (36), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (53), Chandel (41), Tamenglong (6), Noney (1) and Jiribam (19).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Out of the 726 persons discharged in the last 24 hours, 526 were under home isolation, 11 from RIMS, 4 from JNIMS and the rest from other Covid care facilities.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 59,852 (general population - 56,082 and CAPF personnel - 3,770) .

Number of recovered cases is 50,379 (general population - 46,618 and CAPF personnel - 3,761) and number of active cases is 8,499 (general population - 8,495 and CAPF personnel - 4) .

The recovery rate is 84.17 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1791 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 498 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District Hospitals and government institutions have 356D, 61B filled cylinders while district/sub-division wise stock position is Bishnupur (60D,0B), Chandel (31D,7B), Churachandpur (71D,0B), Senapati (32D,0B), Thoubal (52D,20B), Ukhrul (25D,0B), Tamenglong (20D,5B), Jiribam (34D,2B), Moreh (6D,2B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (5D,0B), Kakching (9D,22B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D,2B) .

As of Saturday, 4,67,076 individuals have been administered Covid vaccines out of which 81,570 have got their second dose.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (21,249), Imphal East (13,778), Thoubal (4768), Churachandpur (4595), Kangpokpi (1551), Tamenglong (1922), Bishnupur (3446), Senapati (1314), Ukhrul (1208), Kakching (2683), Chandel (1035), Noney (537), Tengnoupal (593), Jiribam (652), Kamjong (428) and Pherzawl (93) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (364), Imphal East (259), Thoubal (92), Churachandpur (76), Kangpokpi (23), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (62), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (14), Kakching (47), Chandel (13), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (3), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 19,288 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,169 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,62,082 tests per million population against the national average of 2,71,486 TPM.

Case fatality rate rose to 1.63 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 5059 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 10.48 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.36 per cent.
