Imphal/Thoubal, March 12 2022: As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) organized the first National Lok Adalat for the year, 2022 on Saturday at various places across the state, both in virtual and physical modes.

National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West district was jointly organized by MASLSA in association with Imphal East & Imphal West DLSAs at ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex, said a release issued by MASLSA.

National Lok Adalat was also held at Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal & Jiribam districts and in the High Court of Manipur.

In today's National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and Imphal West district, 4 benches composed of Judicial Officers and Advocates were constituted.

The Lok Adalat was conducted in offline mode for the pending Court cases.

For pre-litigation matters relating to bank, telephone & others, it was conducted in online mode through video conferencing.

The High Court Legal Services Committee also organized National Lok Adalat at High Court of Manipur complex in which one Bench comprising of G Gaiphulshillu, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur as Chairperson; Yumkham Rother, Registrar (Judl), High Court of Manipur & K Brajakumar Sharma, Joint Director, Manipur Judicial Academy as Members was constituted.

5 cases were put up and out of which 2 cases have been settled.

A total of 386 cases were taken up today for the entire state, out of which 271 cases which included 29 cases pending in the Courts including Motor Accident Claims Cases were settled amounting to a sum of Rs 2,93,87,729 .

Justice LS Jamir, Judge, High Court of Manipur & the Executive Chairman of MASLSA visited the National Lok Adalat held at ADR building, Lamphel Court Complex as well as Bishnupur Court Complex and interacted with the members of the Lok Adalat Bench. It may be mentioned that the next National Lok Adalat will be held on May 14, 2022 .

Moreover, DLSA Thoubal also organised National Lok Adalat at District & Sessions Court Complex, Thoubal.

In the Lok Adalat, 2 benches were constituted with Binny Ngangom, District & Sessions Judge, Thoubal; Bineshwori Maibam, secretary DLSA Thoubal as chairpersons and advocates Sarankumari & S Devarani as members.

A total of 12 pending cases (2 civil, 5 matrimonial, 5 Domestic Violence Act cases) from the Courts of Thoubal & 211 pre-litigation bank cases were referred to the Lok Adalat.

Out of which, 8 pending cases and 14 pre-litigation cases were taken up and 1 Domestic Violence Act Case and 14 pre-litigation cases were settled amounting to a sum of Rs 9,05,612.A sum of Rs 1,58,000 was collected in the event itself.
