Vlogger RK Ichanthoibi escapes abduction bid

Imphal, October 11 2024: Unidentified miscreants made a failed attempt to abduct popular Manipuri vlogger RK Ichanthoibi from her shop in Sagolband Tera Amudon Akham Leikai on Thursday night.

Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, RK Ichanthoibi claimed that five unidentified individuals, consisting of three males and two females, came in a white Fortuner vehicle without registration number and tried to kidnap her while she was live-streaming on Facebook from her shop at around 8 PM.

Recounting the harrowing experience, RK Ichanthoibi recounted that she initially mistook the group for customers but the situation escalated when one of the intruders brandished a pistol and demanded her to stop the live-streaming.

Despite her initial resistance, the assailants forcibly snatched her mobile phone and fled the scene as she called for help.

An elderly woman with her two daughters were also present during the incident.

Highlighting the mobile phone contain valuable videos and photos documenting the ongoing conflict in Manipur, which could serve as crucial evidence for safeguarding the State's interests, RK Ichanthoibi appealed to all concerned to consider her as their sister and return her mobile phone at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that RK Ichanthoibi has lodged a complaint with the Imphal West police regarding the incident.
