NIMPAL celebrates Foundation Day

The Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL) celebrated its 10th Foundation Day at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul today.
The observance was graced by All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj president Th Ramani, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president L Nganbi, AMKIL advisor Kh Anandy, NIMPAL president Th Ibeyaima.
Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup president Y Mema, Tami-Chingmi president Y Momon, ANNUL president L Praino, Thoubal Ima president T Bimola, EECHAN president T Premita, Machaleima president Amusana and Dr Oken Thounaojam of Department of Anatomy, RIMS, Imphal as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, NIMPAL secretary general Soraisham Shanti Leima said that women of Manipur have a long tradition of fortitude, perseverance, resilience, determination and compassion.
"Manipuri women have long been playing an important role in the socio-economic and political issues of the land", said Shanti while urging all to be cautious of the political traps.
Expressing disappointment over the frequent use of women/ Meira Paibis as weapons during the time of election by politicians, Shanti appealed to all Manipuri women not to be swayed easily and work collectively to save the present generation.
She also shared that since its establishment on May 3, 2015, NIMPAL has been working tirelessly to empower women in the State.
"In the last decade, NIMPAL has organised training programmes on candle making, paper bags, mushroom plantation, etc at various places to improve the socioeconomic condition of the people", said Shanti.
Later, the gathering observed one minute of silence to pay respect to the deceased members of NIMPAL and the brave heroes who gave their lives in the ongoing conflict.
