Lup condemns second instance of bomb threat

Imphal, July 09 2024:
Apunba Lilong Chajing Meira Paibi Lup has strongly condemned the planting of a bomb for the second time at the residence of Lairenjam Maipak Singh, Superintendent Engineer (SE), Rural Engineering Department.
According to a statement issued by M Benu, president, Lilong Chajing Meira Paibi Lup, the bomb was planted at the verandah of Lairenjam Maipak Singh, s/o (L) Lairenjam Nabakishore from Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong by unknown miscreants around 9:30 am today.
This marks the second such instance of bomb threat on Lairenjam Maipak Singh.
Recently, on June 5, 2024, unidentified persons had planted a bomb at his residence, added the statement.
The press release stated that in the first instance itself Lilong Chajing clubs, meira paibis and the local public had strongly condemned the act and questioned the motives and the identity of the culprits involved.
Stating that there are children and senior citizens in the family of Lairenjam Maipak, the release called the repeated act of planting bombs at his residence and inciting fear among the family members and the locals as "unfortunate" .
It added that if the bomb had exploded in such a densely populated area, it could have injured numerous people and wrecked many houses.
Appealing against a repetition of such acts, Apunba Lilong Chajing Meira Paibi Lup cautioned that meira paibis and local clubs will launch an intense agitation against the perpetrators otherwise.
Meanwhile, condemning the repeated act of planting bombs, Superintendent Engineer Lairenjam Maipak told media persons that he is a mere employee of the State Government.
Instead of planting bombs at his residence with the purpose of extorting money, he stated that they should instead visit his office for proper dialogue.
