Emesiiphro village celebrates silver jubilee

Marking 25 years since its establishment, Emesiiphro village celebrated its silver jubilee under the theme, "Celebrating our roots in God's faithfulness; onwards greatness through unity" on Saturday.
The event was graced by Losii Dikho, MLA, 48-Mao AC as the chief guest, K Moses Chalai, IAS, Secretary, Inter-State Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India as the guest of honour; Mamoni Doley, IAS, DC, Senapati; Adahrii Maheo, MCS, CEO, ADC, Senapati; A Kapani, ExChairman, ADC, Senapati; N Athikho Joseph, president, Mao Council and N Kaikho Kapa, Joint Director (retd) TA & Hills as the special guests respectively.
Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Losii Dikho expressed hope to see great changes in the village so as to let others learn from Emesiiphro village.
The MLA also highlighted the need to preserve wildlife for a clean environment, urging the villagers to turn Emesiiphro into a hub for education, business and entrepreneurship as well as to be religious in order to make it a better place to live that could also attract tourists to visit the place by showing great hospitality.
Giving a brief history of the village, Th Kashipri Chalai, Headman, Emesiiphro village stated that Emesiiphro village is situated within the District Headquarters of Senapati, approximately 2.5 km south of the District Secretariat on the western slopes of NH-2 .
The village symbolizes the aspirations of the Mao community for a unified and progressive settlement, said Th Kashipri Chalai.
The concept of Emesiiphro village began in the mid-90s when a group of farsighted Mao intellectuals came together to establish a recognized Mao village in the District Headquarters in addition to the existing two exclusive Mao villages and sizable Mao populations in and around the District Headquarters.
Established in 2000, the village headman gave his credit to the land donors from different neighbouring villages.
In his greeting, N Athikho Joseph extended congratulations to the village on behalf of the Mao Council while urging the residents to turn it into a smart village in near future.
"Stating that he also belongs to Emesiiphro village, Moses Chalai, IAS said that the village founders planned to make a model village by constructing well planned inter village road, well structured plots for residential houses and plans to bring drinking water to the village.
The guest of honour also expressed his desire to turn Emesiiphro into a commercial village while urging the villagers to plan for 200-300 years ahead like in other metro cities abroad.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner of the district released the "Jubilee Souvenir".
Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the silver jubilee monolith, the village headman hoisted the jubilee flag while the guest of honour lit the ceremonial lamp.
The villagers also felicitated all the married off women from the village with gifts during the program.
Different cultural items were showcased during the program.
Various district CSO leaders, apex Mao village bodies, women and student bodies, village chiefs and village chairmen of the neighbouring villages attended the program.
A jubilee feast followed after the program.
