Imphal, March 03 2025:
A joint action committee constituted in connection with the mysterious death of Thokchom Roben (48) has decided not to claim the dead body until and unless the facts and circumstances leading to his death are established.
A sit-in-protest was staged today at Iroishemba Maning Leikai under the aegis of the JAC Against the Unnatural Death of Thokchom Roben Singh, Iroishemba.
JAC convenor Irom Phulendro said that the JAC and the family members of the deceased have decided not to claim the dead body until the facts and circumstances leading to Roben's death are established.
After dropping one individual at Lamboikhongnangkhong Chongtham Leirak at around 8 pm of March 1, Thokchom Roben's car caught fire mysteriously and soon after it was said Roben was charred to death.
This is quite surprising and highly suspicious, Phulendro said.
He then appealed to the authorities concerned to investigate and find out how Roben's car caught fire and how he was killed.
He appealed to police to pull up all suspects if it turns out to be a case of murder.
The JAC convenor maintained that late Roben was an innocent man who never harmed anyone.
