Workshop on "Rite-de-passage of Sanamahism" kicks off

A 15-day workshop on "Rite-de-passage of Sanamahism'' organised by the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) in collaboration with Manipur University of Culture began today at Lainingthou Sanamahi Sanglen.
The inaugural function was graced by Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr Sapam Ranjan; LSTB vice president, Vidyapati Senjam; Manipur University of Culture, Vice Chancellor, Prof Paonam Gunindro and SCERT Manipur, Director, Aheibam Romel as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sapam Ranjan said that the LSTB and Manipur University of Culture have taken a good initiative by organising the 15-days workshop which will help in sensitizing the people about the rituals & traditions of Sanamahi faith.
Stressing on the need to preserve the true essence of the rites of passage, he encouraged youths to participate in the workshop which will focus on the rituals/practices and professions in Sanamahi religion concerned with birth, marriage and death.
In regard to the inclusion of Sanamahi religion in the census, the Minister assured that he will discuss the matter with the Chief Minister and take necessary steps to include Sanamahi religion in the census.
Releasing of Sanamahi Mapao Journal for 12 months, Yupan Thaba by Kabui Loisang, Pena Thougal Jagoi, Maibi Thougal Jagoi, Eshei Thougal by Eshei Loisang and Pung Cholom by Pung Loisang were the other highlights of the event.
