Lamka, October 17 2013:
Against the backdrop of ZORO Northern zone's activities in the run up to the third World Zomi Convention, ZORO General Secretary has urged the zone leadership and its co-ordinator to shun their parochial attitude to save the organisation from losing its hard earned achievements.
"As one of the General Secretaries of ZORO headquarters, I would like to state that all the activities and statements of ZORO (NZ) and its co-ordinator is neither approved in its face value nor conducted in consultation with ZORO Headquarters," said a statement issued by Nehkhojang, General Secretary ZORO HQ.
It added, 'the strong reservation against the forthcoming 3rd World Zomi Convention, 2013 which will be held at Lamka from Oct 25 to 27, 2013 by present ZORO (Northern Zone) leadership, particularly its Co-ordinator is regrettable, totally uncalled for as it leads to unnecessary confusion among the public' .
Such myopic understanding of ZO people, accepting some and ignoring others, is against the philosophy of ZORO Headquarters.
Unless the current Northern Zone Co- ordinator changed his parochial mindset, there is the danger of ZORO losing its hard earned achievements in the past decades, asserted the statement.
He further stated that one should understand the local sensitivity of ZO people's political issues and open statement of 'our' objective as well as manoeuvring in other State could vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in a state like Manipur.
