Lien Gangte, Lamlalmoi join race for Outer MP

Even though the Left and Secular Alliance (LSA) of 11 political parties barring Congress and BJP is still unable to find a consensus candidate for Outer Manipur P/C, JD(U) president M Tombi has announced that Lamminlien Gangte alias Lien Gangte would fight the Lok Sabha election as common candidate of the alliance.
Meanwhile, CPI(M-L) has named Lamlalmoi Gangte as its candidate in Outer Manipur P/C .
LSA held a meeting at Irabot Bhavan today and deliberated on fielding a common candidate in Outer Manipur P/C but the meeting could not come to a conclusive decision as no representatives of RSP, BSP and PDA were present.
It is reported that Lien Gangte may be announced as the LSA's consensus candidate after holding another meeting in the next couple of days.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, LSA media chairman and JD(U) State unit president M Tombi said that representatives of three partner parties could not attend the meeting due to some unavoidable works.
There is no difference of opinion among the alliance partners.
Other than JD(U)'s Lien Gangta, there is no question any other partner party putting up their candidates in Outer Manipur P/C, claimed Tombi while exuding that Lien Gangte would be supported by all partner parties.
The alliance is prepared to fight the Lok Sabha election on the issues of power potable water and transport infrastructure, he added.
Incidentally, Lien Gangte hails from Henglep Assembly constituency of Churachandpur district and he is presently staying at Mission Lane, Sanjenthong.
Meanwhile CPI (Marxist-Leninist) State Secretary S Shyamsunder today announ-ced that Lamlalmoi Gangte would contest the Lok Sabha election on the party's ticket.
Lamlalmoi Gangte from Nungba Assembly constituency contested the 15th Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate.
Shyamsunder said that the party would fight the 16th Lok Sabha election with the primary agenda of repealing and AFSPA and transfer of Loktak project to the people of Manipur.
Candidates fighting for the Inner Manippur Lok Sabha seat till date are Dr Th Meinya (INC), Dr RK Ranjan (BJP), Dr M Nara (LSA), S Manaobi (TMC) and Dr G Tonsana (MPDF) .
Candidates for the Outer Manipur P/C are Thangso Baite (INC), Prof Gangmumei Kamei (BJP), Kim Gangte (TMC), Lamlalmoi Gangte (CPI-ML), Soso Lorho (NPF), Lien Gangte (JD-U) and Mani Charenamei (Ind).
