Training programme held

Manipur State Legal Services Authority organised a training programme for para legal volunteers at the conference hall of Cheirap Court complex today.
Fifty four volunteers from different Legal Aid Clinics such as LMS Law College, Legal Aid Clinic, Imphal, Royal Academy of Law Legal Aid Clinic, Oinam, Legal Aid Clinic, Cheirap Court, Malom Legal Aid Clinic, Legal Aid Clinic, Noney Bazar, Nungba Sub-Division, Tamenglong District, Manipur, Zaphou Bazar Legal Aid Clinic, Chandel, Legal Aid Clinic, Kakching, Haoreibi Mayai Leikai Legal Aid Clinic, Legal Aid Clinic, Chanam Sandrok, Jiribam Legal Aid Clinic, Jiribam, Legal Aid Clinic, Thoubal participated in the training programme, said a press release.
High Court of Manipur Judge and Manipur State Legal Services Authority Executive Chairman N Kotiswar inaugurated the training programme.
In his inaugural speech, N Kotiswar mentioned the importance of the role of Para Legal Volunteers with regards to access to justice.
He stated that the Para Legal Volunteers have been working to end impediment in access to justice to the general public, particularly the under-privilege and needy people.
He said that PLVs must bring legal awareness to the people for free legal aid service in coordination with the legal institutions including legal authorities.
Manipur State Legal Services Authority Member Secretary Chandam Brajachand said that PLVs are the backbone of the Legal Aid Clinics.
Under the training programme, they would be benefited and as such they could ensure legal aids to all sections of the people.
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East and Secretary of District Legal Service Authority, Imphal East district, A Noutuneshwari spoke on statutory provisions of Legal Aid System.
LMS Law College Lecturer Ch Momon and Advocate L Rebeda were the trainers of the programme.
