Imphal, February 05 2014:
The alleged apathy of the Government toward the setting up of two Border Haats in Ukhrul district has distressed the border villages.
Speaking to reporters yesterday, the President of Border Area Villages Association BAVA, Augustine said that the Govt of India and Govt of Manipur had proposed to set up a Border Haat each at New Tusom and Konkan Thana in Ukhrul District in 2011 to facilitate border trade with neighbouring Myanmar.
He lamented that the much anticipated Border Haats remained a pipe dream for many border villages of the district.
The BAVA demanded immediate materialisation of the two proposed Border Haats without any further delay, he said.
Speaking at the occasion BAVA secretary, Tuithing came down heavily on BRO for alleged poor maintenance of NH-202 from Ukhrul to Jessami.
The highway condition is turning worst from bad as no major repair work has been taken up for more than three years, he said.
The BAVA further demanded investigation against BRO for neglecting the maintenance of NH-202 from Ukhrul to Jessami.
