MLA assures assistance to promote Singju Fest

Thoubal, January 04 2020: Khangabok Assembly Constituency MLA Okram Surjakumar has asserted that all possible help will be extended from his side to make 'Singju Festival' a recognised festival sponsored by the State Government.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest of the opening ceremony of poetry recitation programme (Nokning Seireng Seidinnaba Thouram), which was conducted as part of the ongoing 5th Singju Festival, at District Sports Complex (Kodompokpi Ground), Wangjing, Thoubal District, the MLA also lauded the organiser for their efforts to promote medicinal plants and herbs of the State, which is an ingredients of Singju (spicy Manipuri salad) .

Career Guidance Councillor Centre School, Wangoi, chairman, Chungkham Modhumangol Singh and SYON Industries Pvt Ltd, chairman and managing director, Mutum Robindro and Food Safety Officer, Usham Arunkumar Singh also attended the programme.

At the event, M Robindro appealed all to contribute their shares in making Manipur a green, clean and healthy environment for people to live in while U Arunkumar lamented that all the food products sold in the festival are inspected by the Food Safety Department.

Over 20 eminent writers of Manipur recited different poems during the programme which was also attended by Sahitya Akademi Awardee, Saratchand Thiyam.

Later, in the evening, a solo dance competition was also held at the festival site.

Altogether 25 contestants took part in the competition.
