Imphal, September 02 2016:
BJP Uripok Mandal has claimed that beneficiaries have not been provided their full quota of rice under National Food Security Act at some units of Uripok AC.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, BJP Uripok Mandal president N Purnachandra said that Khumanthem Soro Devi w/o Khumanthem Biren of Uripok Huidrom Leikai is the Fair Price Shop agent of the area.
However, one Kangabam Mema of Uripok Khoisnam Leikai was found distributing NFSA rice to beneficiaries at her house.
When a BJP team went to the house to check whether the beneficiaries were provided rice properly, a woman complained that she got only 20 kg of rice although her family was entitled to receive 30 kg of rice, Purnachandra said.
Upon enquiry, Mema told the BJP team that she simply followed the instruction of the MLA, Purnachandra said.
It was found written on the beneficiary list that only 20 kg of rice must be provided to all the priority households, Purnachandra said and added that there was no separate list for AAY and APL beneficiaries as well.
In this regard, Purnachandra urged the concerned to distribute NFSA rice at Fair Price Shops only.
He urged the authority concerned to clarify who authorised Mema to distribute NFSA rice.
He also urged to keep proper weighing machines at the Fair Price Shops.
Purnachandra questioned why the MLA had instructed to provide only 20 kg of rice instead of the entitled quotas to beneficiaries.
Urging the MLA not to play politics with NFSA rice distribution, Purnachandra said that people had lots of hope when Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that people would get rice at Rs 3 per kg under NFSA.
