Imphal, August 29:
Taking serious note of the reported non-maintenance of quality in the building construction of the Department of Bio-Chemistry, Manipur University and the dilapidated condition of the Department's laboratory room, the Manipur University Students' Union has sought attention of the MU authority into the matter.
Talking to reporters this afternoon, MUSU president Kshetrimayum Narayan said that with the Department's laboratory becoming outdated, there were instances of snakes sneaking into the room earlier.
Incidentally, a snake was found inside a power stabiliser kept inside the Microbial Biotechnology Research Room today.
Saying that MUSU informed about these incidents to MU authority in time, Narayan decried that the MU authority has failed to give any attention to the matter till date.
Observing that the Department's newly constructed building was sub-standard, he informed that tiles are breaking loose as they were not laid properly.
The MUSU president further cautioned that various forms of agitation will be launched in case the MU authority fails to look into the matter within five days.
Even as R-Net having capacity of downloading 5000 journals has been installed in Manipur University under UGC, students of the university are facing various difficulties as the equipment was not installed with due emphasis on quality, he asserted.
While appealing to all concerned to supply only quality products to all institutions, MUSU sought attention of the MU authority towards many lanes which have been left without black-topping.
