One day public convention

With an aim to promote harmony among various communities of the State, a one day public convention was held at Bamon Leikai Youth Club, Yairipok today, reports our correspondent.
The programme was jointly organised by the Federation of Clubs, Yairipok (FCY), AMUCO, CCSK and UCM under the theme "People's movement for the common future of Manipur" and was attended by Professor Arambam Lokendro, UCM president Elangbam Johnson, AMUCO vice-president Ph Deban Sharma, social scientist Dhanabir Laishram, Assistant Professor Ashangbam Jiten and Tuibong BDO Ibotombi Khuman as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, UCM general secretary YK Dhiren said that the Central Government has been making divergent interpretations of the peace accord signed between the Central Government and NSCN-IM to various communities of the State.
Such ambiguous0 statements can result in disharmony among the communities.
"People of Manipur irrespective of all the differences have been living in harmony and peace since time immemorial.
We all should uphold the age-old relationship amid the plot to divide the people by the Central Government," he added.
