Imphal, December 18 2013: Kh Muhindro, PO, DRDA, said Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme(MGNREGS) is a demand given scheme.

During the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, Kh Muhindro spoke about the objectives of the scheme, how it can benefit every rural household.

The mandate of the act is to provide employment of unskilled manual work for 100 days with guaranteed wages of Rs 153 per day every year, there will be no room for the Programme Officer to misappropriate funds, he added.

Clarifying the doubts of the people, Muhindro asserted that the Gram Sabha is a principal forum for the wage seekers and the duties of the Gram Panchayats are to receive applications for registration and verifying it.

Recognised card holders are the beneficiaries of the scheme and special categories would be kept for people with disablities, primitive tribal groups, nomadic tribal groups, de-notified tribes, women in special circumstances, senior citizens above 65 years of age, people living with HIV/AIDS and internally displaced person.

MID-DAY MEAL

Food were served to 18,373 students enrolled in 417 Government schools in Thoubal District under the Central sponsored Mid Day Meal(MDM) Scheme.

H Priyokumar, DI ZEO, Thoubal District, said the food is being provided in accordance with the number of students enrolled in all the 417 schools.

INDIRA AWAJ Yojana(IAY) .

Around 156 houses were constructed in Thoubal District under IAY in 2013, according to the statemnet disclosed by Kh Muhindro, DRDA.

Sarva Sikhsa Abhiyan(SSA) .

1,51,597 books were distributed under SSA across 341 Government schools for the total of 19,624 students including 11,867 students studying in 228 Government schools in Kakching block.

NRHM .

38 pregnant women have so far received the benenfits of NRHM where the initiative of caesarean operation has been started since September 30, 2013.Thoubal is the only district after Churachandpur to have that facilities.

1621 pregnant women in the district received the benefits of Janani Surakshya Yojana(Jsy) scheme while delivering babies during January to November, 2013 .
