14th anniversary of martyrdom observed at Mao Gate

Senapati, May 06 2024:
The 14th anniversary of martyrdom of (L) Neli Chakho and (L) Dikho Loshuo was observed at Martyrs' Park, Mao Gate in Senapati district on Monday.
Wreaths were laid by different civil society organisations including Kalinamei Village Authority, Youth and Women organizations before the commencement of the formal program.
A one minute silent prayer was also offered during the program in honour of the two departed souls.
Addressing the gathering, Victor Vekehielie, Vice President, Naga Hoho said that it is not only a day of mourning but also a day of inspiration for the youth and generations to come.
Calling the sacrifice made by the duo immeasurable, he said that their legacy deserves to be upheld by all who sacrificed their lives for the Naga cause.
N Gonmei Poujan, Vice President, United Naga Council in his speech stated that the day has been observed with a sense of National pride over the way they have sacrificed their precious lives for the cause of the Naga nation.
The UNC leader called the departed duo as Naga heroes while paying respect to the two souls.
Medovi Rhi, President, Naga Students Federation in his speech stated that though they may be gone, their spirit lives on in people's hearts.
The NSF leader implored the younger generations not to forget the sacrifice the duo had made for the cause of the people adding that their bravery and courage serve as a guiding light, urging the people to embrace their duties with steadfast resolve.
Luikang Luckson, president, All Naga Students Association, Manipur and Naga Women's Union president, Priscilla Thiumai were also present at the function.
The event was organised by the Mao Council and Mao Students' Union under the aegis of the United Naga Council.
