First CHIC opened at Singjamei AC

First Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) was opened at Manipur College for Sigjamei Assembly Constituency by Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand today.
Opening the centre, Y Khemchand said the CHIC will play vital role in facing COVID-19 pandemic.
The centre (CHIC) will help ease crowding at hospitals as Covid cases rise.
Such centres should be opened for all Assembly Segments to aid the State fight the disease more effectively and efficiently, he said.
From early January till first week of March, Singjamei area has had about 100 Covid positive cases, he said.
Y Khemchand said that hiding symptoms of COVID-19 and avoiding timely test are major causes for spread of coronavirus.
Advisor (Health), Dr S Ranjan said the CHIC opened at Manipur College is first of its kind in India.
The Government has taken decision to open such a centre for every Assembly Segment in Manipur, he said.
The CHICs will house Covid patients who lack isolation facilities at their homes.
The patients at the centres will be provided meals, medicine and all medical attention and facilities required, he added.
He also urged people to follow the Covid safety guidelines and restrictions imposed by the Government and appealed to all eligible people to get themselves vaccinated.
He also appealed to the people with symptoms to get themselves tested for Covid and assured that the State would not face any shortage of medical oxygen.
Health Director Dr K Rajo was also present.
