Imphal, November 04 2022:
It has been a long-standing dream for the Government to establish a Cancer Hospital in the State, Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated today while inspecting the ongoing construction work at the project site at Porompat.
The Chief Minister also inspected construction of Government quarters at New Checkon.
N Biren said the Government is targeting to inaugurate the hospital by March next year, and added that the hospital would, to an extent, lessen the hardships faced by people of the State in travelling outside the State for diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
The hospital is being constructed on PPP model with the KARNIKOS Healthcare, an international organisation, he said and further stressed that on its completion, it would be empanelled for CMHT, PMJAY and other Government schemes.
The Chief Minister also said that construction of a block of Government quarters at New Checkon would be completed by March next year.
"We are also targeting to complete some more blocks and hand them over to the public before 2024", he added.
Earlier there were only single housing quarters, he stressed, adding that with loans from HUDCO, new building facilities which are G+6 buildings are being constructed at the site.
The Chief Minister also said that once the complex is complete it would solve at least 70-80 per cent of issues faced by Government officials due to lack of housing quarters.
During the site visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by CAF&PD Minister L Susindro Meitei and Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar.
