Jayantakumar takes over as working president of NPP

Imphal, June 02 2021: L Jayantakumar, sitting MLA representing Keishamthong AC, has been appointed as working president of National People's Party (NPP), Manipur.

NPP Manipur president MLA N Kayisii issued a notification to this effect today.

In a statement circulated in social media, Jayantakumar opined that he was given the key post of working president at the advice of NPP leader Conrad Sangma in view of the compelling circumstances.

He also conveyed gratitude to all concerned for giving him the key post of working president.

"Even though political activities have slowed down on account of the COVID-19 second wave, it is being speculated that Manipur will go to the Assembly election before March next year.

I am of the opinion that I have been given the responsibility of working president in line with the party's constitution and in view of the urgent need for a working president", Jayantakumar said.

He said that he would convene a meeting of NPP Manipur on Friday or Saturday to discuss the party's activities.

The party's organisation, its activities, Assembly election, manifesto and election campaign would be deliberated at the meeting, he added.
