Imphal, February 01: The Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong, T Pamei was given a fitting farewell by the Zeliangrong Students' Union as well as the public of the district following his transfer from the district.

Acknowledging the service rendered by the IAS officer, the student body said that he was the best DC the district had seen and this in turn evoked a lot of respect and love from the people.

Due to the sincerity that the DC had shown towards his work, the people of Tamenglong had in fact begun to repose faith and confidence in the Government machinery, said the student body.

T Pamei was posted at Tamenglong in 2004 and it was due to his timely action that people living in the interior parts such as Azuram and other villages did not suffer any starvation pangs, which was much there because of the bamboo flowering phenomenon.

Other than this Pamei struck a chord with the people with his sympathetic understanding, said the student body and added that many development works were also implemented.

The people wish him and his family a bright and joyous future, added the student body.
