Shops gutted at Irong Chesaba Bazar

Two shops have been reduced to cinders by a ravaging fire that broke out at Irong Chesaba Bazar, located within Thoubal district but under the jurisdiction of Mayang Imphal police station this evening.
Information received from the spot said that the fire broke out from a kerosene lantern.
The raging fire gutted the grocery shop of one Md Nazir (40) who also deals in fuel oils together with the adjacent cosmetic and garment shop owned by one Md Kalam (35) .
One Madrassa teacher namely MV Kheiruddin sustained injuries when he tried to douse off the fire.
Kheiruddin who suffered burn injuries on the waist and below has been taken to hospital.
The raging fire was brought under control with the arrival of fire tenders from Mayang Imphal Fire Service sub-station even as it started spreading to an adjacent community hall and the PHC.
On the other hand, wind-shield of one fire tender was smashed by some local people on the charge that they did not arrive in time.
It is estimated that goods worth around Rs 10 lakhs have been destroyed by the inferno.
