A woman cadre of the PLA along with a sympathiser of the armed group as well as five other activists of different armed groups have been apprehended by Thoubal district police commandos and troops of Assam Rifles since yesterday.
A statement issued by the SP (Thoubal) Clay Khongsai said acting on reliable information about some PLA cadres present at near Andro Kharam village for extortion of money from the general public the commandos moved in and launched search operations leading to the arrest of the woman cadre and PLA sympathiser from Andro Kharam leikai at around 5 am today.
The woman cadre has been identified as Soraisam Rashitombi Chanu alias Bidya (30) d/o S Kuladhaja Singh of Kongba Ucheckon Khunou while the male sympathiser is said to be one Khunungmayum Pishak Singh (38) s/o (L) Kh Puno Singh of Andro Kharam Leikai.
Rashitombi is informed to have joined the banned organisation in 1996 through one Usha of Pukhao, acquired basic training in 1998 at Burma .
Meanwhile, PRO IGAR (S) in a statement informed of Assam Rifles troops apprehending five UG activists including a PLA cadre nabbed by 21 AR personnel from Nungu Awang Leikai today.
The captive has been identified as Laishram Hemanta alias JK (37) s/o L Kunjeswar.
during the course of a search operation conducted at Andro area today another PLA cadre namely Chingakham Nanda Kishore (31) s/o Ch Madhuchandra has been netted.
Troops of 34 AR also arrested two cadres of the PULF (Azad) group from Tulihal and Phoudel areas yesterday with the duo identified as Md Muzibur Rahaman alias Tomba alias Atomba (22) s/o Md Sanamanik of Yairipok Lamanai and Md Amar Khan (19) s/o Md Abduluuahaf of Singha Mathak Leikai.
One mobile phone and a purse are the items listed as recovered from the two.
In another incident, troops of 23 AR launched operation at Napet Palli area yesterday resulting in the arrest of a KCP (MC) cadre namely Chongtham Ibomcha Meitei s/o (L) Ch Thoiba Meitei of Itham village.
All the individuals arrested by the AR troops have been handed over to the nearest or police stations concerned.
