Imphal, December 26 2011:
Arrested UNLF RK Sanayaima alias Meghen has categorically stated plebiscite should not taken as an election by any political party in the ensuing 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
The call for plebiscite was raised by the UNLF to restore the lost sovereignty of Manipur.
It is incompatible to raise the same call as an agenda in the elections held under the Constitution of India, Sanayaima stated.
Speaking to media persons before he was produced the an NIA special Court at Guwahati today, Sanayaima asked the Government of India to work in such a way as to deliver justice and peace to all the people of the North East region otherwise it would be irrational to expect the revolutionary movement to subside on its own.
He also exhorted all the people of the North East to unite together.
This would make the call for plebiscite
more significant.
Stating that periodical elections are nothing but festivals in Manipur, he noted that money power, muscle power, gun power and intoxicating drugs are being abused extensively during elections.
To a question, Sanayaima negated presence of any base camp or training camp of UNLF in either Myanmar or Bangladesh.
He stated that all the camps of UNLF are located within the territory of Manipur.
He also clarified that the UNLF has no links with the Maoists.
Charge-sheets framed by the NIA against Sanayaima were heard at the special court for the first time today.
