Imphal, April 26:
Memthoi Takhellambam, a graduate arts teacher currently posted to Chingtam High School, Yaingangpokpi has been selected as one of the principal candidates to participate in the Eurasia /South Asia Teaching and Excellence Program (TEA), funded by US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board) for six weeks sometime in Sept-Nov, 2008 .

She is the only candidate from Manipur (India) among 60 teachers nominated for the programme from Eurasia and South Asia.
The participants will travel to the United States to participate in a 6-week professional development programme at a US university along with a 2-3 week internship at a secondary school to actively engage them with American teachers and students.
It is said that the professional development programme would include course work and intensive training in teaching methodology, curriculum writing, teaching strategies for the participants' home environment, educational leadership as well as the use of computers as teaching tools.
