World Farmers' Day observed

Loumi Yaipha Lup, Kangleipak (LOYALUP) observed World Farmers' Day at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club at Majorkhul today.
The ceremony was attended by K Debadutta Sharma, Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation; Tourangbam Birjit, working president, LOYALUP; Kh Nimaichand, Project Officer, MOMA, Agriculture Department; Thangjam Joykumar, Managing Director, Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt Ltd and Thongbam Ibotombi, Associate Professor, DM College of Arts as the chief guest, functional president and guests of honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Tourangbam Birjit informed that LOYALUP, Kangleipak is a relatively new group formed for the welfare of the farming community.
Stating that agriculture is the backbone of Manipur society, he opined that this sector has the attention of numerous CSOs, NGOs and the public.
Expressing grief over the large scale damage to crops, houses and other properties inflicted by the May 5 hailstorm in the State, Tourangbam Birjit shared that LOYALUP, Kangleipak is making preparations to extend assistance to farmers.
