Airtel mobile towers to shut down indefinitely from Dec 18

Imphal, December 10 2022: Airtel Towers Land Owners' and Caretakers' Association, Manipur has declared to shut down Airtel mobile towers from December 18, 2022 indefinitely if the demands of the association are not fulfilled with regards to issue of mobile tower caretakers.

In a press release, the secretary of the association informed the above declaration while denouncing the indifference attitude of the authorities concerned of Airtel in connection with the laying off of some Airtel Mobile Tower Caretakers who have been working for the past 14-15 years without providing adequate reason by the Indus Tower Limited since September this year.

Regarding the above issue, the association had met with the Area Operational Manager concerned and submitted applications to re-appoint the laid off caretakers and to release their pending salaries multiple times.

However the above demands have not been actualised till date and the authorities concerned have not taken up any positive measures to address the plights of the Airtel Mobile Tower caretakers who have been associated with Airtel for more than a decade.

Denouncing such indifference attitude, the association has been compelled to resort to shutting down of Airtel Mobile Towers under the association, added the release .
