Imphal, August 10 2025:
Imparting education must include teachings that would instill good moral discipline among students.
Otherwise, the society can't move forward, former rebel leader RK Meghen has said.
He said this during the 15th foundation day celebration of Hope Home at Langjing in Imphal West today.
Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the Hope Home authorities for giving shelter and looking after the orphan children.
He encouraged the children at the home to strive to become successful in their endeavours and serve the State.
The home and its authorities must take good care of the children and look after their needs.
The children should be given proper guidance for them to become successful persons and enable them to contribute to the growth of the society and the State as a whole, Meghen said.
There is a huge difference between the past and the present generations.
Societal changes and degrading moral discipline among the present generation are a result of outside influence.
Intoxicants including alcohol have affected and plagued the society.
While imparting education is important, it must also include lessons to instill good moral discipline among the students and younger generations, Meghen said.
For building a robust society, the students and youths must stay away from drugs.
The role of youths in building a good society is huge, and as such, they must be of sound mind and health.
They must actively take part in building the society and choose the right candidate in times of elections, he said.
Owner of the Hope Home, Khwairakpam Nilbir Singh said the home has 21 children.
It was founded with the aim to provide home and care to the children.
The home has been made possible by help from generous donors.
So far, the home has not received any form of aid from the Government, he said.
Dr Siddhartha Khoirom, Consultant Gynaecologist and Director Maipakpi Hospital, Khwairakpam Tarunkumar, Senior Advocate High Court of Manipur, W Amuchou Meitei, vice-president Patriots Day Observation Committee among others attended the observance.
