Speaking to the media persons at Manipur Press Club, Moirangthem Naokhomba, president of WAMA said, Meitei Mayek was first introduced to the students of class I and II in 2006 and they are now doing PhD in Meitei Mayek, so the students are now not able to read or write Bengali script.
He further stated that, the Government must take every possible step to let these students take the examination in Meitei Mayek starting from the year 2025 .
Nokhomba continued that, the civil services preliminary exam is held at various North Eastern States but not in Manipur.
The decision to not allot examination centre in Manipur has caused great inconvenience to the aspirants of the State.

He appealed the State Government and relevant authority to set up committee and take up every possible step to include Manipuri language as classical language.
