TPO's general session concludes at Purul

Senapati, May 04 2022: The 21st General Session of Tenyimi People's Organization (TPO) concluded on Tuesday at Purul Akutpa village under Senapati district.

The event hosted by Poumai Naga Union (PNU) was conducted under the theme, "Tenyimi-Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" .

It was attended by Neiba Kronu, Minister, Planning & Coordination, Parliamentary Affairs and Land Records & Survey, Government of Nagaland; 47-Karong AC MLA, J Kumo Sha and Timikha Koza, president TPO as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Timikha Koza stated that the world is going through an unprecedented tough time which cannot be anticipated by anyone.

Appealing to the people to think more seriously about the issues that need to be addressed, Timikha stated that it is high time for all to take responsibility and deal with unpleasant truths to find a way forward.

"There is no more time for us to be speaking platitudes, polite words and beating around the bush for fear of calling a spade, a spade and for fear of disturbing the settled way of life", he asserted.

Timikha further called upon the Tenyimi community to stand united and safeguard its identity.

J Kumo Sha urged the gathering to recall the past and renew its vision to live in unity as one family.

In a bid to strengthen the functioning of TPO, Kumo Sha further proposed the formation of Tenyimi Youth Organization and to plan a grand cultural promotion programme.

Solidarity messages from Tenyimi Women Organization, Naga People's Organization, Senapati, Tenyimi Union, Dimapur and United Naga Council were also read during the programme.

Folk tune from Chakhesang Cultural Organization enthralled the gathering in the inaugural session.

During the business session, Sovenyi, convenor, Board of Arbitrators sought for more time to give the final verdict on the dispute over Kazing/Koziiri/Kezoltsa and Dziko/Dziikou.

Stating that all parties involved should come forward and be ready to accept the judgement, Sovenyi urged all to pray to the Almighty to bring an amicable solution.

It may be mentioned that the Board of Arbitrators was constituted by TPO with 2 representatives each from 10 tribes under TPO who are reportedly working to bring the verdict over the land dispute.

Later, a search committee was constituted to appoint new executives for the next tenure.

Tenyimi People's Organization (TPO) is the apex body of 10 tribes from Nagaland, Manipur and Assam consisting of Pochury, Poumai, Thangal, Rengma, Maram, Inpui, Chakhesang, Angami, Mao and Zeliangrong tribes.
