29th scientific advisory committee meeting for KVK Senapati held

The 29th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting for Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Senapati was held on Saturday at Don Bosco College Maram Conference Hall, Senapati hosted by FEEDS Manipur.
Dr AK Singha, Principal Scientist of ICAR - ATARI - Zone VII, Shillong said the inaugural speech through virtual mode.
Dr Jyotsna, senior scientist and head of KVK Senapati delivered a welcome and keynote address.
In her power point presentation, gave the annual report 2024-25 and annual action plan 2025-26.She said the total number of villages adopted by KVK till date is 158 and total number of villages covered by KVKs intervention/activities is 469.Senior scientist Dr Jyotsa highlighted on farm testing (discipline-wise summary) of various crops cultivated by local people, performance of finger millet varieties, evalu ation of low cost diet for growing pigs, comparison of restricted time feeding on performance of broiler chicken, popularization of seed production technology of paddy, field pea, soyabean, and turmeric varieties, demonstration on integrated nutrient management in ginger, popularization of chemical castration of piglets, assessment of extension gap in maize production, promotion of multi millet cookies, popularization of value addition of kiwi fruit (candy and jam), introduction of MPTS in the existing farming system, promotion of Beejamrit and Jeevamrut on cabbage in natural farming, CFLD (oil seeds), CFLD maize, demonstration of rapeseed under Oilseed model village project, seed materials produced during 2024, planting materials produced during 2024, bioproducts, livestock and fingerlings, availability of soil testing/soil health cards at KVK, status of revolving fund during 2024, functional linkages established with different organizations during 2024 and others.
Scientist expert Prof Dipak Nath deputy director DEE, CAU Imphal in his address stated that KVK brings all the experts as a single platform to address the problem.
He reminded the gathering the need of KVK working in collaboration with the line department for the progress of the farmers.
He advised them to identify the farmers' problem and prioritize accordingly.
He also urged the scientists to work and do research as per the need and relevance of the locality and give training for skill upgradation.
Dr Manoj Pandey senior scientist and head KVK Churachandpur also addressed the gathering.
The Programme was attended by line department officials like veterinary and animal husbandry services, fishery, forest, agriculture, horticulture, bank, farmers and others.
