Imphal, August 28 2009:
In connection with the investigation being conducted by Imphal West District Police into the July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident, police have reportedly send summons to some friends and local residents of slain Chungkham Sanjit for examination.
Talking to mediapersons in this regard at Khurai Sajor Leikai today, JAC convenor Th Anita informed that the summons have been served to atleast 10 persons on August 26 and some of them did not accept the summon notices as they have no idea about what it was about.
However, four persons including a relative of Sanjit accepted the summon notices which invited them for examination by SDPO Imphal East at 9.30 am yesterday.
But none of them went for the examination.

Denouncing the conduct of the police as an attempt to suppress the truth and the ongoing public agitation, Anita demanded implementation of the points that JAC had already highlighted in its memorandum submitted to the Government.
Although it is more than one month of the incident, no action have been taken up against the involved police commandos.
This is nothing but an attempt to suppress the voice of the people and a contention against the photographic evidences of the incident that have been produced by Tehelka, Anita said.
Over and above punishment of the guilty police commandos, action should also be initiated against DGP, Senior SP and Additional SP for their attempt to cover up the truth, she demanded, adding that there is no need for any judicial inquiry into the incident as Tehelka have revealed the truth.
July 23 killing protested: Supporting the ongoing civil movement spearheaded by the Apunba Lup against the Khwairamband killing of July 23, a protest rally was taken out at Yairipok Malom today. Meira Paibis of Yairipok Malom, Kakmayai and Leirongthel took out a protest rally from Malom Khongnangkhong till Lamkhai.
The protesters shouted slogans like "resign, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi", "stop state terrorism", "punish killer commandos", "Repeal AFSPA etc".
Later in denunciation of the killing of two people including a pregnant woman and injuring five persons by police commandos, the Meira Paibis burnt effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi and his legislator wife Landhoni.
Decrying the same incident, local Meira Paibis staged protest demonstrations at Sagolband Ingudam Leirak and Lalambung Makhong.
