MACR condemns

The Manipur Alliance for Child Rights condemned the recent incident of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur, for the unlawful practices against the fundamental principles of child rights, juvenile justice, child psychology, according to Keisam Pradipkumar, Convenor, Manipur Alliance for Child Rights.
Expressing disatisfaction on the failure of the State Government to take up a significant step against the violation of juvenile justice and institutional care, the statement said that physical or emotional abuse of students or children is unlawful and a punishable offence.
MACR appealed the State Goverment to adopt a policy where all schools and hostels including Residential Special Training Centres run under SSA must be mandatorily registered under a specific legislation and to follow a set of prescribed guidelines for the well being of the students or children.
The statement added that all the staff must be given a basic training on child rights, juvenile Act and Right to Education Act.
They must accountable, open to do periodic monitoring, inspectin and social audits to make sure the fundamental rights of the children are protected and their basic requirements are well maintained.
