Imphal, October 26 2017: Appointment of Adhyaksha and Up-adhyaksha of Imphal West district is still stalled reportedly due to lack of sincerity among the State BJP leaders.

Instead of appointing the candidate who garnered the support of eight Members in the 14-Member Imphal West Zilla Parishad, there has been attempt to appoint the Member who got the support of six Members as the Adhyaksha .

According to information, the 14 ZP Members of Imphal West are divided in two camps, each lobbying with the BJP leaders for appointment of leader of their choice to be the Adhyaksha.

The first meeting of all elected ZP Members of Imphal West cum oath taking and election of Adhyaksha and Up-adhyaksha slated today has also been postponed sine die .

The source further said that Member from Potshangbam ZP L Bobby got the support of eight Members.

Among these eight candidates, two, including Bobby herself, are BJP sponsored candidates while the other six are Independent candidates.

It may be mentioned that Bobby is not only an active member of the BJP but also a key functionary of BJP Mahila Morcha .

Meanwhile, six other Members have set up camp in support of RK Taruni, Member from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa ZP as the Adhyaksha of Imphal West.

This camp reportedly receive the support of four MLAs .

Member of Yarou Bamdiyar ZP M Manglembi, who was earlier in the camp of L Bobby, was reportedly picked up by the police from her home yesterday.

She is speculated to be in the camp of RK Taruni now.

The source further said that Manglembi is a Congress sponsored candidate .

The term of the previous Zilla Parishad expired on October 23.Election/appointment of Adhyaksha for Imphal West cannot materialise still although the results of the general Panchayat election were declared about 14/15 days back .

The State BJP office bearers are said to be divided among the two camps with both sides lobbying with the Govt.The source further said that the delay in administering oath to the newly elected ZP Members and appointment/election of Adhyaksha amount to violation of their rights.
