Najma leads in extending greetings

Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has conveyed warm wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
She conveyed that Diwali celebrates the victory of good over evil and appealed to all to work towards spreading love and fraternity.
She also urged the people to resolve to celebrate Diwali in a clean and pollution free manner to build a healthy and prosperous society.
Praying for the festival of light to usher in an era of peaceful coexistence and social harmony in the society, the Governor once again wished the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali.
On the other hand, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba.
Speaking to media persons at the Chief Minister's Secretariat today, the Chief Minister wished for the festival of lights to strengthen brotherhood in the State and also prayed for the different communities to live together in unity.
The Chief Minister also extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
The Chief Minister said that Ningol Chakkouba is no more a festival of Meitei/Meetei community alone.
Observing that the noble ideals of the festival are now acknowledged by everybody in the world, the Chief Minister said that the festival is now celebrated by different communities together leaving aside all differences.
Biren wished that the festival usher in prosperity and happiness in people's lives and opined that it is encouraging to see some civil society organisations celebrating the festival with diverse communities and different sections of people since the past few decades.
He also wished the CSOs a grand and successful celebration this year as well.
Further speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister informed that blacktopping of Singnat-Sinzawl road (NH-102B), which connects Churachandpur with Mizoram, is almost complete now.
Expressing pride on the outstanding performance by renowned singer Mandakini Takhellambam at a TV reality show despite being visually impaired, the Chief Minister announced that a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh would be rewarded to her by the State Government in recognition of her talent and hard work.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand also conveyed warm wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba festival and prayed for the festivals to bring peace and prosperity to all, irrespective of caste and creed.
Deputy CM Y Joykumar, Works Minister Th Biswajit, MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar and Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister N Kayishii also conveyed warm wishes to the people on the occasion of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba.
On the other hand, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president TN Haokip and ex-Dy CM Gaikhangam also wished the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba festivals.
