Recipients of the Manipur State Kala Akademi's Fellow and Award for the year of 2007 have been announced during the general council meeting of the Akademi held on August 11 at Raj Bhavan with Governor of Manipur Gurbachand Jagat, who is also the chairman of the State Akademi in the chair.
According to statement issued by Secretary of Manipur State Kala Akademi Dr Kh Sorojini Devi today, the recipients of the Fellows for the year 2007 are Naorem, Nila Singh of Kakching Ningthou Leikai and Wahengbam Ibobi Singh of Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai.
The recipients of the Awards for the year 2007 are Abujam Tamu Devi of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai (sutra) and Wangkhem Lokendrajit Singh of Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi Chabungbam Leikai in the field of Manipuri dance and Keisham Jaminikanta Singh of Keishampat Keisham Leikai (classical) and Nameirakpam Thambalngou Singh of Yairipok Nongbram (Poong) in the field of music.
In the field of theatre, Kshetrimayum Randhoni Devi of Kwakeithel Haorokchambi Leikai has been selected for the Award while Laishram Kunjaraj Meitei of Changangei Makha Lekai in the field of Shumang Leela.
In other forms of art, Hanjabam Nandakishor Sharma of Wangkhei Ningthempukhri Mapal and Okram Baruni Singh of Khewa Phurju Pukhao have been selected for the awards in the field of Goura Leela and Wari Leeba respectively.
In Thang-Ta, late Mayanglambam Thabal Singh of Wangkhei Angom Leikai would be given the award posthumously.
In tribal culture, HN Amjathang of Upper Lamka, Churachandpur and Stephen Angkang of Lungphu Village, Ukhrul have been selected for the award.
In literature, Dr Ibohanbi Singh of Singjamei Thokchom Leikai has been selected for the award for his travelogue Bangabandhugi Leibakta.
In fine arts, N Nanao for his work titled Under the Chothe in wood medium and W Khagemba for his work titled Mood in the medium of dry point have been chosen for the award.
M Maningou Singh for his work Pre-monsoon, 2008 in mixed media and H Satyabarta Singh for his work Red Carpet-I in mixed media have given honourable mention.
