Imphal, May 27 2024:
Manipur University students staged a protest in front of MU Vice Chancellor Office urging authorities to conduct the delayed Manipur University Students Union (MUSU) 2023-24 election.
The protest began around 1.30 pm today with students storming the VC Office wielding placards which read "Respect students' rights", "We demand MUSU elections", "No MUSU, no MU", "Maintain the sanctity of MU" .
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, a Physics Department student, Moirangthem Dhanabir stated that students are facing a lot of difficulties even as the MUSU 2023-24 elections continue to be delayed.
Demanding MUSU elections to be conducted as soon as possible, he maintained that elected MUSU members would have helped the students deal with an array of problems by bringing them to the attention of the authority concerned.
If the MUSU election continues to be delayed, more intense protests will be launched, he added.
