Moreh residents currently sheltering at Lamding Higher Secondary School relief camp have appealed to the State Government to resolve the ongoing conflict and safely resettle them in their home town.
Speaking in this connection, Leishangthem Tamem Leima, a local of Moreh Heinou Makhong Ward No 7 has stated that the inmates are treated very well in the relief camp, however, they cannot find any peace here as they were born and brought up in Moreh.
Recounting her experience, she stated that many of them fled after their houses were torched in the violence.
They took shelter in a field and were then escorted to an Army camp.
Many of them suffered from illnesses due to a sudden change in food, water and other living conditions, she added.
Further, she recounted that when they reached Pallel on their way to this relief camp, they were attacked with stones as well as many harsh words.
