Imphal, April 19 2015 :
The 'self styled' chairman of Manipur Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd (MMPCU), Ch Ramananda must be held responsible for skipping all the formalities of the union as a chairman, alleged member of Board of Directors of the union, S Suren in a press conference held at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai today.
Suren said that the union was formed under the Manipur Co-operative Society Act 1976 and it was functioning smoothly till August 30, 2013 .
According to the Act under which the union was formed, no Board of Directors member can become the chairman of the union if he/she has any pending loan of the union, he added.
In spite of having pending loan, Ch Ramananda defied the Court order and all the rules of the union and started working as the 'self styled' chairman of MMPCU, Suren alleged.
Even though the High Court had issued an order that the elected members of Board of Directors cannot pass any resolution and act upon it, Ramananda had defied this Court order and he has been serving as a chairman of the union till date.
Such action has led to serious problems in the functioning and working of the union and directly affected the farmers engaged in milk production, he added.
He urged the Manipur Co-operative Society and other Government agencies to take up necessary action against Ramananda as the farmers have been facing lots of inconvenience under his 'self styled' chairmanship.
