Tamenglong, September 14, 2010: State and Central security have reportedly apprehended six activists of different armed underground organisations in the last few days.

While one female activist of the proscribed KCP (City Meitei) group had been hauled up from her house on September 13 at around 6.30 pm and a PLA activist from Khwai Brahmapur Nagamapal Laimayum Leirak by Imphal West district police commandos, three KYKL activists along with one KCP (City Meitei) cadre were arrested by teams of Imphal East district police commando and Assam Rifles from Sawombung and Huidrom village areas on September 10. A statement issued by SSP (IW) L Kailun identified the arrested female activist of the KCP (City Meitei) group as Laiphrakpam Prema Leima (34) w/o L Bhogen Meitei of Bijoy Govinda Kali Makhong.

She used to work under the command of her younger sister namely Reena alias Abe, an active member of the outfit, maintained the SSP while adding that Prema was assigned to extort money from private hospitals, clinics, doctor and general public.

One mobile phone with a sim card has been seized from her possession, the release added.

identifying the PLA activist as S/S 2nd Lt Phanjoubam Abung Meitei alias Nabakumar alias Romesh alias Sanajaoba (34) s/o Ph Bira Meitei of Andro Mamang Leikai, the SSP release said Abung Meitei was arrested at around 10.30 am today.

Abung was staying at a rented quarter belonging to RK tomba Singh of Nagamapal Laimayum Leirak for the last four months at the instruction of one Ibohal of PLA for arranging the forthcoming raising day of the outfit in Imphal areas, the SSP added.

The KCP cadre, arrested by a combined team of cadre of Imphal East police commandos and 23 Assam Rifles, is informed to be involved in the shooting of one Huidrom Jebenta alias Eco (26) s/o H Kokil of Huidrom Mayai Leikai, an active worker of Health Minister Ph Parijat Singh.

A statement issued by SP (IE) Th Radheshyam Singh, identified the KYKL trio arrested on September 10 morning from Sawombung crossing, as Sorokhaibam Saratchandra (47) s/o (L) S Brajabidhu of Pourabi Mayai Leikai, Salam Ibomcha Singh alias Premkumar (33) s/o S Ibopishak Singh of Pourabi Awang Leikai and Laishram Rabei Meitei (30) s/o L Ibobi Meitei of Pourabi Awang Leikai.

One 9 mm pistol with magazine and eight live rounds have been recovered from Saratchandra's possession while all three disclosed that they joined KYKL organisation in 2007 through one S/S Pvt Chalamba, who is working under the command of S/S Finance Commander amudon alias Sunder of Keibi Taret Khun, added the SP.

The trio were involved in extortion of money from the general public, Govt officials, businessmen, etc.

Identifying the KCP (City Meitei) activist as Konsam Naocha Singh alias Lammeithanbi (30) s/o K Meipak Singh of Huidrom Litan Makhong, the statement informed that district police commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles effected the arrest at around 1 pm.

Naocha is said to have disclosed of joining the KCP group in 2009 through one Ningombam Naoba Singh s/o N Inaocha Singh of Huidrom Litan Makhong.

In connection with the shooting of H Jebenta, police had registered FIR case against K Naocha, the SP maintained.

Meanwhile there have been many claims and counter-claims over the authenticity of each other.
