Bomb threat protested strongly

Meira Paibis and locals have condemned the bomb placed at the residence of Water Resources Department's Chief Engineer Remmei Alimmei at Chingmeirong Kabui village.
Denouncing the incident that occurred yesterday, locals staged sit-ins at Chingmeirong Kabui Community Hall and Namthanlong (Mujikhul) .
Notably, a hand-grenade was found placed at the residence of the Chief Engineer at Chingmeirong Kabui village by unknown persons yesterday morning.
At the sit-in staged at Chingmeirong today, Chingmeirong Kabui Village Women Society secretary Lansinlu Daimei said the incidents like yesterday's in densely populated areas put people's lives at risk.
The incident caused panic among the people.
Had the bomb exploded it could have hurt men, women and children, she said, denouncing the incident and appealing to the individuals/groups concerned to refrain from such activities in the future.
The reason for placing the bomb is not known.
If there is any issue with the Chief Engineer, it can be resolved through peaceful dialogue.
Placing bomb and putting the entire community at risk is highly condemnable, she added.
The sit-in at Mujikhul community hall, organised by the local youth club and women society also condemned the incident in the strongest terms.
Women leader Remmei Asinlu said Chief Engineer R Alimmei was born in Mujikhul and his family later moved to Chingmeirong.
She said the persons who placed the bomb at the residence of the Chief Engineer should be booked and arrested at the earliest.
