Ipudhou Marjing Expo ends

The 5-day Ipudhou Marjing Expo 2025, a joint initiative by the Centre for Research on Environmental Development (CRED) and the Manipur chapter of the North East Women Entrepreneur Association (NEWEA), concluded at the Marjing Tourism Polo Complex today.
The expo, which started on August 6, featured 60 stalls selling a wide variety of items.
Dr A Chinglenkhomba Meetei, Joint Secretary of Education (S), addressed the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
Highlighting the severe impact of the crisis in Manipur on the State's economy, he commended CRED and NEWEA for providing a platform for weavers, artisans, and entrepreneurs to showcase their products.
Emphasizing the talent of the people of Manipur, Dr Chinglenkhomba said the Government has taken up an initiative to identify students' talents through curriculum reforms under National Education Policy 2020, moving beyond traditional textbookbased learning.
He said that the Education (S) has been holding exhibitions from time to time to identify the skills of students.
Dr Chinglenkhomba is also the Director (Development and Planning) of Mission for Economic Empowerment of Traditional Artisans and Craftsmen (MEETAC .
Stating that MEETAC also has been taking up different initiatives to support local artisans, he urged them to focus on their work and contribute to the State's economy.
The programme was also attended by CRED president Pheiroijam Arjabrata Singh as chief guest and Ipudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup, Heingang secretary Sanoujam Tondang as guest of honour.
Artisans, weavers and entrepreneurs who opened stalls during the expo were given certificates and mementos by the dignitaries.
