Imphal, November 08 2024:
The COCOMI and the Keikhu Pei have vehemently condemned the physical assault of one Joshua Kamei of Kambiron (Puiluan) village by some unidentified men at Keikhu Kabui village at around 12 pm on November 5 .
Joshua Kamei is said to be a driver of Railways by profession.
Awarding punishment based on one's wrongdoing or culpability should be done by authority concerned.
But some people taking law into their hands and acting on their whims and fancy is not desirable.
COCOMI and the people will never support such acts, COCOMI said in a press release.
COCOMI has also condemned in the strongest terms the physical assault of V Hangrao Blesson Paomai of Kodom Khullen village and Dalou Paomai of Liyai Khullen village by some individuals at Lamsang at around 3 am on October 31 .
Considering the sustained offensive of Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists to break up Manipur, it is time for all the indigenous people to unite together and protect Manipur, it said.
The COCOMI further called upon all the people/communities not to interpret any unwanted incident on communal lines when such incidents break out between individuals belonging to different communities.
"Instead we should all work together to see that the perpetrators are punished by the authorities as per law", it said.
It also appealed to the Government to pay special attention to the incidents of assaulting commuters and innocent people by some individuals and book all the culprits at the earliest.
The Keikhu Kabui village has also expressed strong displeasure against the abduction of Joshua Kamei by some miscreants who was released only after subjecting him to physical assault.
Meanwhile, the Naga People's Union Imphal (NPUI) has submitted a representation to the Chief Minister stating that Naga people are no longer safe in the valley areas particularly Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching.
It cited the abduction and physical assault of Joshua Kamei by some armed miscreants.
It also appealed to all the valley based Naga people to be careful and vigilant day and night.
