Imphal, December 05 2022:
The Ad-hoc Committee Sawombung to Sagolmang via Keibi Road suspended the bandh launched today in connection with the repair of the 12 km stretch of road from Sawombung to Sagolmang after arriving at an understanding with PWD officials later in the day.
It may be noted that the protestors blocked the road from early morning allowing the movement of only school vehicles, medical and religious-related cases.
A team led by Sagolmang OC was informed that the bandh will not be revoked without a dialogue with the PWD Minister, PWD Chief Engineer or noted officials of the Department.
Following this, representatives of the Committee had a talk with Chief Engineer Kh Temba wherein both parties arrived at an agreement to repair the most dilapidated sections of the stretch of road, to fix the potholes on the rest of the road stretch and to wait for an appropriate scheme to expand and further repair the road.
EE Lalsana and AE Robinson were also present during the talk.
In this connection, a Committee representative shared that they had received assurance from the Department to begin repair work on the road from December 7 .
"The Committee will give the Department until December 8 to act on their word, failing which the bandh will be relaunched from December 9", he added.
Further he lauded the Chief Engineer for his efforts to resolve the issue.
